Kallista was founded in 1979 by two British entrepreneurs who recognized a void of luxury bath products offered in the United States. This new boutique company would bring sophistication and a sense of fashion to the bath and powder rooms, and was named Kallista, a Greek word that translates to "most beautiful, most excellent."Since its inception, Kallista was one of the few boutique companies bringing unique materials, innovation and true design to the U.S. plumbing market. The 1980s signified much growth for Kallista. Herbert V. Kohler, Jr., president, chairman and chief executive officer of Kohler Co., recognized Kallista's potential as a luxury brand and in 1985, Kohler Co. purchased minority ownership of Kallista. By May of 1989, Kohler Co. acquired Kallista in its entirety.
